“The Crucible” Workshop

On a mysterious Halloween night, MOU Theatre NYU summoned women from across New York City for an evening of ritual, theatre, and a little feminist witchcraft. Blending tarot reading, drama therapy rituals, and script exploration, the workshop invited participants to step inside Arthur Miller’s The Crucible—and then turn it on its head. Together, we unpacked the play’s legacy of fear, misogyny, and the policing of women’s voices, asking: What happens when the women once accused of witchcraft become the ones holding the pen? The night culminated in a lively, in-depth conversation about reclaiming and rewriting The Crucible through the eyes of modern women—transforming a story about women being judged, silenced, and punished into one where they get to tell the story themselves.
